Playoffs with a Purpose: Buffalo Bills' Playoff Run Fuels More Than $25,000 in Support for Western NY Non-Profits

January 29, 2025
Broadview Federal Credit Union took its support of the Buffalo Bills to the next level, turning every touchdown, field goal, and extra point in the playoffs into crucial donations for two Western New York nonprofits.
Throughout the playoffs, Broadview pledged to donate to a pool of funds to be split between to FeedMore WNY and the Resource Council of WNY based on the number of points the Bills scored in each game.
- Wild Card Matchup: Against the Denver Broncos, Broadview pledged $125 per point, resulting in a donation of $3,875.
- Divisional Round: Facing the Baltimore Ravens, the contribution doubled to $250 per point, adding $6,750 to the pool.
- AFC Championship: In the showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs (and the refs), the donation tripled to $500 per point, resulting in $14,500 added to the pool.
In total, the Bills scoring totaled a pledge of $25,125. Broadview rounded up to $25,200—with $12,600 going to each organization.
“At Broadview, we’re proud to turn excitement for the Bills into meaningful action for our communities,” said Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “This initiative emphasizes our commitment to fighting hunger, supporting families, and investing in Western New York. Together, we’re proving that when the Bills win, everyone wins.”
Even though the Bills championship aspirations were dashed before the Super Bowl, the team’s success and Broadview’s funds will have a lasting impact on people in need throughout Western New York.
“FeedMore WNY is incredibly grateful for the continued support of Broadview Federal Credit Union,” said Tara A. Ellis, President and CEO of FeedMore WNY. “This partnership will enable us to provide more nutritious food to hungry children, families, older adults and veterans in our community. While we are always cheering for the Buffalo Bills, these generous donations from Broadview FCU give us an additional reason to celebrate.”
Through its food bank distribution center, partnerships with nearly 400 hunger-relief agencies, home-delivered meal programs, and other feeding programs, FeedMore WNY alleviates hunger and helps people of all ages throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties where approximately 1 in 8 people may experience food insecurity.
The Resource Council of WNY is a small community hub on the East Side of Buffalo that shares Broadview’s mission of strengthening communities. With programs ranging from food pantries to after-school initiatives and senior activities, the organization empowers individuals and families in Buffalo and the surrounding areas.
“This fundraising initiative will help us continue to offer educational, sports and recreational programs for our youth, health and wellness activities for families, and our ongoing effort to address food insecurity in vulnerable households,” said Resource Council of WNY President and CEO Catherine Roberts. “Broadview Federal Credit Union and the Buffalo Bills are both winning teams that are committed to giving back to the community, and the Resource Council of WNY is filled with gratitude for your generosity."
