Broadview Donates $60,000 of Essential Supplies to Support Homeless & Family Crisis Shelters During Code Blue Alerts
January 17, 2025
As temperatures continue to drop this winter, Broadview Federal Credit Union is stepping up to address those most vulnerable during the harsh winter months. Through its annual “Code Blue” initiative, Broadview has donated $60,000 worth of essential supplies to 14 homeless and family crisis shelters across New York State.
Supplies include about 4,000 winter hats, almost 3,000 gloves, 4,000 pairs of socks and underwear, 1,000 fleece blankets, and thousands of hand warmers, tissues packs, lip balm and hand lotion. Depending on location, shelters will also receive personal care items, towels and warm clothing. Broadview previously donated hundreds of winter coats through the holiday season.
Dozens of Broadview employee volunteers have sorted, organized, and delivered the donations, ensuring the supplies reach those in need by this weekend. Broadview’s partnership with shelters has helped keep thousands of individuals warm and safe during freezing temperatures.
"At Broadview, we are deeply committed to supporting our community and providing assistance to those experiencing homelessness, especially during the harsh winter months,” said Kathy Lanni, Chief Community Officer at Broadview.
“Through the Code Blue initiative, we are proud to partner with emergency shelters across the state to help ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to warmth, shelter, and essential resources. It’s an honor to contribute to the incredible work being done by these organizations to make a difference in the lives of so many.”
